CATARACT SURGERY

 

Cataracts are the clouding of the lens, the natural lens inside the eye. With age, or for various other reasons, this lens loses its transparency, and eventually leads to a decrease in vision.

 

The cataract intervention is performed in a sterile surgical environment and under a microscope. It consists of incising the eye, extracting the cataract and replacing the lens with an artificial intraocular implant. The procedure is usually done under gout or local anesthesia, but general anesthesia may be possible.

EYELID AND OCULOPLASTIC SURGERY

 

Eyelid surgery and oculoplastic surgery deal with eyelid and periocular area issues, including:

 

Ectropions (eyelids badly positioned and outwardly everted)

 

Entropions (poorly positioned eyelids everted inward)

 

Ptosis (closed eyelids that no longer lift well)

 

Upper and lower dermatochalasis (excess skin on the upper and / or lower eyelid)

 

Problems with lacrimal duct stenosis

 

The Blepharospames

 

Botox injections

 

Eyelid tumors, requiring excision and possible construction

REFRACTIVE SURGERY (SURGERY OF MYOPIA, HYPERMETROPIA, ASTIGMATISM AND PRESBYTIA)

 

In a normal eye, the path of light rays is modified by the cornea and the lens to allow them to converge on the retina. The myopic eye is too long, with the light rays that converge in front of the retina. The hyperopic eye is too short an eye and the light rays converge behind the retina. Glasses and contact lenses, as well as refractive surgery techniques, make it possible to modify the path of light rays.

 

Excimer laser surgery allows you to modify the shape of the cornea by performing localized removal of the corneal tissue, in order to correct myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism and presbyopia. It is carried out via two techniques:

 

Surface laser (Refractive photokeratectomy, PKR):

 

After peeling of the surface layer, the laser impacts are applied to the surface of the cornea.

 

Lasik:

 

First, a flap of corneal tissue is surgically cut, then secondly the excimer laser is applied to the thickness of the cornea, after which the corneal flap is replaced.

MEDICAL RETINA

 

The discipline of the medical retina deals with various retinal pathologies such as:

 

Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD), which is a condition caused by aging of the retina. The dry form of the retina has no specific treatment, but the wet form is treatable with injections in the eye (Intra-Vitreal Injections).

 

Diabetic Retinopathy is a pathology of the retina that occurs in patients with type I or II diabetes. It can be in the form of Diabetic Macular Edema, Proliferative Retinopathy, or even Vitreous Hemorrhage, and requires rapid treatment, by laser or with IntraVitreous Injections

 

Retinal vascular occlusion (thrombosis), which includes venous or arterial occlusion.

 

Strong myopia, which can be complicated by new vessels of the great myopic ...
